The 5th Asian Venous Forum is a tremendously authoritative gathering, where experts from around the world who are leaders in the field of phlebology come together to consider future directions for scientific and clinical progress. The Forum has been held on four occasions to date, in 2005 (the 1st Asian Venous Forum in Nagoya), 2006 (Shenyang, China), 2007 (Kyoto) and 2008 (Hakone). At the symposium and sessions that comprise the Forum, (including the presentation of free papers by general submission), clinicians and researchers from various countries will take center stage in presenting the latest research results concerning clinical studies, research and education in the field of phlebology. Our aim is to engage in discussion, thus deepening global knowledge of our field, making a further contribution to medicine in Japan, and providing a source of information to the world about the latest endeavors and breakthroughs in phlebology.
